About me

Welcome to my webpage! I am a passionate microbiologist with a deep-seated fascination for the hidden world of Antarctic extremophilic bacteria. My primary research focus is on unraveling the untapped biosynthetic potential of these remarkable microorganisms, with a special emphasis on discovering novel antimicrobial compounds that hold the promise of addressing one of our most pressing global health challenges, the antimicrobial resistance.

In addition to my work on antimicrobial compounds, I'm equally intrigued by the rich biodiversity of Antarctic microbiota and their unique adaptations to extreme environments. Exploring these adaptations, I seek to uncover properties with the potential for biomedical and biotechnological applications.

I am excited to launch my research group as a Junior Group Leader with the project "Exploration of Ribosomally Synthesized Natural Product Diversity in Antarctic Extremophiles" (ID: 25-17343S). This project aims to uncover the hidden biosynthetic potential of bacteria adapted to Antarctica's extreme environments, with a focus on...

Thrilled to share that my poster, "From Extreme Environments to Bioactive Discoveries: Unveiling the Potential of Antarctic Bacteria," won the Best Poster Award at the 5th European Conference on Natural Products (ECNP) — voted by all participants!
